Dr. Bennett Alan Lewis finished medical school in 1986, graduating from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Coney Island Hospital (a member of the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation). He moved to Florida in 1993. Dr. Lewis has been in private practice for the past 18 years in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Private practice was not an option for me but my primary goal. I knew I wanted to follow the same patients for the entire length of my career and I knew the type of practice I wanted to run having been exposed to practices that were nothing more than businesses whose product was medicine. I knew what kind of tone I wanted in my office and how to translate that information into the daily functioning of our practice.
When I began to write this introduction, I frankly had no idea of what to say, so I asked my patients, a large percentage of which I have been seeing as their primary care provider since starting my practice. “What keeps you retuning year after year?” The primary reason I was given is the friendliness and cooperativeness of the office. The wanted to see “their doctor” when they are sick. Our office reminds them of their family doctor’s office when they were growing up but with state of the art care.
My patients appreciate the amount of time I spend with them. There is never a sensation of being rushed through a visit. I love my work, I care deeply about my patients, and they could sense that from the way they feel while being seen in our office.
